As a part of our efforts to build diversity, leadership and excellence in VCU PM&R, I am proud to announce the following Professorship appointments:
Rosa Schwarz Cifu Professorship
This Professorship was established by the Cifu Family 15 years ago to support cancer rehabilitation efforts at VCU. My mom was an oncology nurse for 30 years and was cared for at Massey Cancer Center. Jeffrey Kreutzer, PhD held this title until his retirement last year, in recognition of the work he did with brain tumor research. I’m happy to honor Nancy Hsu, PsyD with this Professorship, given her leadership of the cancer-related clinical programming in the Department of PM&R. Nancy is currently an Associate Professor and Chief of our Outpatient Rehabilitation Psychology services, and she embodies our commitment to supporting diverse, high-performing leaders.
Gabriella and Isabelle Cifu Professorship
This Professorship was established by the Cifu Family in 2021 to support leadership in diversity, equality, and inclusivity. My daughters, Gabriella and Isabelle, are the inspiration for this professorship. I’m excited to honor Ana Mills, PsyD with this Professorship, given her leadership of the Department's Workgroup on Equity, Diversity and Inclusive Practice (WEDIP), her work with WISDOM and other groups across VCU in the area of DEI, and her passions for health equity work. Ana is a triple-threat academician with a thriving clinical, (federally funded) research and leadership practice.
“It’s always special to be the recipient of this recognition through a professorship, and it is especially so here as these honor Dave’s family and the Cifu legacy of long-standing accomplishment and commitment at VCU School of Medicine.” -Dean Buckley
Please join Dean Buckley and me in congratulating Drs. Hsu and Mills!
